Help Guide

Strip Colour

How to choose the right STRIP COLOUR

Typically, strip colour choice is determined by brand association or visual appeal. However, for some purposes, the following colour recommendations may be helpful:

Tinted and coloured strips are only available as 75mm wide and 1.5mm thick strips with ribbed or flat surfaces. Clear strips come in all widths, thicknesses and surfaces.

Strip Width

How to select the right STRIP WIDTH

Our PVC strip widths are 75mm, 100mm, 150mm, 200mm and 300mm.

Typically, the 75mm width strips are ideal for standard home, restaurant and shop doorways with average traffic and where windy or rainy weather is not a problem.

For larger doorways, cold rooms, fridge displays, freezers, low trolley or pallet truck traffic, warehouses and high pedestrian traffic doorways – the 100mm, 150mm or 200mm wide strips are a good choice.

The 300mm wide strips provide a more stable curtain structure. These 300mm strips are well suited to tall wide doorways with heavy commercial traffic like forklifts and pallet trucks or at locations where strong winds and other environmental factors could disturb narrower strips.

Strip Thickness

How to choose the right STRIP THICKNESS

Our PVC strips come in the following thicknesses: 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm and 5mm.

We recommend using the lightweight 1.5mm thickness for strip doors to be installed across house doors, regular doorways, light traffic doorways and doors where wind and weather impacts won’t be a problem.

The more durable mid-weight 2mm thickness is great for industrial and commercial settings where the strip door must withstand high trolley and pedestrian traffic. This 2mm thick strip is also ideal for improving temperature control within cold rooms and open fridge displays.

Lastly, the robust, heavy-weight 3mm and 5mm thick strips suit industrial and commercial access applications, such as forklift and motorised pallet truck traffic. These dense strips are also sought after for cold and freezer room functions.

Strip Surface

How to decide on the right STRIP SURFACE (i.e., Flat or Ribbed?)

Flat strip surfaces are less resistant to damage and tend to stick together if moisture is present. However, the high visibility and clean smooth look of flat strip surfaces are effective for product displays and open fridge displays.

In contrast, the ribbed strip surface, with its thicker impact point compared to the flat PVC surface, is more robust and rugged. Also, the ribs reduce scratches, drag and general use wear and tear.

Additionally, the ribbed strips are ideal in humid, wet environments and used in freezer, cold rooms and low-temp applications. Where condensation and moisture may cause the flat PVC surfaces to freeze or stick together, the ribbed strips don’t have this problem – making ribbed strips more appropriate for easy and safe traffic flow areas.

How to choose the right strip door HEAD SECTION

We provide a choice of three different hanging systems or head sections based on the application of your strip door:

1. Removable aluminium head section: 45mm (h)
x 20mm (d)

This type of head section makes strip doors easy to hang
and remove for storage at the day’s end; therefore, it’s a popular choice for
domestic applications, retail shopfronts and cool rooms. This head section is
made from anodised aluminium and securely staples the PVC door strips to a
rigid PVC insert. Using the head section’s figure-of-eight holes that neatly fit
over the mounting screws, you can mount this strip door with ease to your
doorway.

2. Fixed or bolted aluminium head section:
65mm (h) x 40mm (d) x 3mm (thick)

This type of strip door head section is well suited for
large doorways with significant and heavy traffic. Because individual strips will
likely need replacing due to damage or wear, this fixed or bolted head section
makes this process much easier to do. The head section is composed of
right-angled anodised aluminium. The PVC strips are fastened securely to the
head section using stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers. Appropriate fixings
for the weight of the strip door and the mounting surface, i.e., rivets or tech
screws, are used to attach the strip curtain to the doorway.

3. Hook-on stainless steel head section: 30mm
(h) x 30mm (d)

The ‘hook-on’ stainless steel head section provides an
easy-to-use and sturdy hanging system for heavy-duty or industrial-grade strip
doors. For strip doors that need regular removal for cleaning or frequent strip
replacements due to vehicle traffic, the simple ‘hook on & hook off’
function is efficient and practical. Also, the stainless-steel assembly is
resistant to harsh industrial cleaning agents. Two hook-on stainless-steel
plates neatly sandwich the PVC strips, easily hanging from solid hooks on the
head section. Suitable fixings for the weight of the strip door and the
mounting surface, i.e., rivets or tech screws, are used to secure the strip
door in place.

Strip Head Section

How to select the right strip door HEAD SECTION

Head sections are generally selected based on your strip door’s application.

We have three different head sections or hanging systems available:

1.  Removable aluminum head section, 45mm (h) x 20mm (d)

A popular choice for retail shop fronts, domestic applications and cool rooms; strip doors with this type of head section are easy to hang and easily removed at the end of each day for storage. This head section is made of anodized aluminum with the PVC door strips securely stapled to a rigid PVC insert. Mounting this strip door to your doorway is via figure-of-eight holes in the head section that precisely fit over mounting screws provided.

2.  Fixed or bolted aluminum head section, 65mm (h) x 40mm (d) x 3mm (thick)

Ideal for strip doors spanning larger doorways with heavy traffic and, therefore, may require replacement of individual damaged or worn strips. This head section is made of right-angled anodized aluminum with PVC door strips securely bolted on using stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers, that allow for easy replacement of individual strips. The strip door is generally attached to the doorway using suitable fixings for the mounting surface and weight of the strip door, such as rivets or tech screws.

3.  Hook-on stainless steel head section, 30mm (h) x 30mm (d)

A sturdy, easy-to-use hanging system for heavy-duty strip doors. A good option for strip doors that need frequent removal for cleaning—simply ‘hook on’ and ‘hook off’—or for regular strip replacements due to heavy motorized traffic. Furthermore, the stainless-steel construction is resistant to the harsh cleaning agents used in some industries. These PVC strips come sandwiched between two hook-on stainless steel plates that neatly and easily hang over strong hooks on the stainless-steel head section. The strip door is generally attached using suitable fixings for the mounting surface and weight of the strip door, such as rivets or tech screws.
